Cardiff-based Coles Funeral Directors has announced a significant investment in Rumney this week, creating several new jobs in the area and doubling the size of its funeral home.

Established nearly two decades ago, Rumney was Coles Funeral Directors’ first funeral home in the city so holds a special place in the heart of managing director, Gareth Coles. Since then, the business has expanded its reach across Birchgrove and Llandaff, with families across the capital saying their final goodbyes with the help of Coles.

Now, due to increased customer demand in the Rumney area, the family-run funeral directors has doubled the size of its original funeral home, taking over a prominent location on Newport Road which was previously home to HSBC bank.

Gareth Coles, managing director of Coles Funeral Directors said: “We’ve continued to grow our presence in the East Cardiff area and as we do so, it’s essential that we continue to deliver exceptional customer experiences that we have become known for. With this expansion, we wanted to create a space that would ensure that all of our families feel like they have a personal experience with us, and that they’re supported throughout the whole grief and bereavement process as seamlessly as possible.”

The expansion means that the Coles Funeral Directors will be able to offer quiet resting suites with seating areas where families can take time to privately grieve together, and there will also be a dedicated arrangement office available in Rumney.

The team has also recruited four new team members across its Family Support and Funeral Operative Teams, and purchased a brand-new Mercedes vehicle fleet to enhance the service it provides and continue to meet the needs of the community.

Gareth continued: “We’re proud to support and continue to invest in the Rumney community – this location will always be special to us.”
