We’re proud to announce that Coles Funeral Directors has been crowned the winner of the Community Support award and was named Highly commended in the Customer Service Excellence category at the Business Growth Awards 2021.
As the first funeral directors to be shortlisted for the awards since it was founded in 2016, Coles was recognised for our community support efforts throughout the pandemic in last week’s ceremony at the Vale Resort.During this incredibly difficult time, our team was busy helping members of our community deal with bereavement and grief, as well as supporting our charity partners with essential fundraising activities alongside their day-to-day responsibilities. We’ve discussed it on our blog previously, but we’ve also been working to support local sports clubs, churches and community groups. While this is certainly something we would typically do annually, these efforts have proved vital as our community navigated such uncertain times.
Speaking of the awards, managing director Gareth Coles said: “We’re proud to be crowned the winners of the Community Support Award at this year’s Business Growth Awards. The community is at the heart of everything that we do and has been since our origins. However, over the last 18 months, throughout the pandemic, this activity has proved essential. From our charity partners who saw fundraising activities put on pause, to individual members of our local community who were vulnerable and unable to carry out day-to-day tasks, our team was there to offer support.”
The Coles team was also recognised for our innovative approach to death and dying in line with the Death Positive movement, as well as conversations around death across all age groups with our education programme, Bereavement Hub, and funeral planning capabilities.
Gareth continued: “It was also fantastic to see our team recognised for their excellent customer service. It’s something that we’re very passionate about at Coles, where no detail is too small and we’re with our customers every step of the way. We credit our team wholeheartedly for this as they’re empathic and so passionate about what they do every single day. Throughout the pandemic, as you can imagine we were managing challenging and emotionally charged situations, but our team showed great resilience and were able to offer excellent service and support when it was needed the most.
